Who is Kusha Kapila?

Biography of Kusha Kapila is very interesting one. She is a social media influencer and content creator, who rose to fame for her portrayal of ‘Billi Massi’ on social media. Currently she has over 2.8 million followers on instagram. 

Early life and Education 

She is based out of Delhi and was born on 19th September, 1989, She is 34 years old. She did her schooling from south Delhi and completed her graduation in English Literature from Indraprastha college for women. 

She was actively involved in theatre in her college days and then went on to study at the National Institute of Fashion to pursue a degree in designing. 

Initially Kusha Kapila wanted to be a journalist, but subsequently joined the Bhartiya International company as a Merchandising intern for 3 months. 

Career 

At a Delhi based firm in 2013, Kapila started working as a fashion correspondent. She then worked as a content writer and digital content head at multiple organisations and one such organisation was iDiva where she worked as  a writer and got  promoted to a fashion editor. It was at iDiva that she started making videos for their facebook page, and gained popularity as her character ‘Billi Massi’ became an instant hit. The idea and concept of this character came from a woman Kapila met in real life at a friend’s party in Chattarpur farms. Her videos on south delhi girls co-starring creator Dolly Singh received immense love and recognition. 

Post the success of Billi Massi, she started playing other characters that gained popularity. She has worked with many Bollywood celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bacchan, Rashmika Mandana etc. Due to her popularity amongst the audience, she has featured on many magazine covers including the prestigious ‘Harper’s Bazaar’. Kapila’s hobbies include swimming, dancing and listening to music.

Personal life 

Kusha Kapila married to Zorawar Ahluwalia.They met back in 2012 and Kusha has been very vocal about her body image issues but she said that Zoravar made her feel wanted and appreciated for who she truly was.The couple got married in 2017 in an intimate ceremony and are now parents to their pet, Maaya. Fans love their camaraderie and witty banter on social media.

A few sections of social media criticised her for stereotyping south delhi girls but Kusha has always taken criticism in her stride. She believes “Things are assumed for women who are hungry for success. That severely affects me because if a woman decides to be a go-getter and wants to get the best of her life, she’s seen a certain way whereas men, when they are hungry for success they are platformed and celebrated,”
